How can we help you?

Battery Information

The battery and charger that come with Rad Power Bikes ebikes will keep you riding Rad for a very long time. When used as directed, these components can provide years of reliable power and recharging.

Battery Details

Most models use a 7.5 lb, 48V, 14 Ah Lithium-Ion battery with a 30 Amp continuous Battery Management System (BMS) and genuine Samsung 35E cells, rated for 800 full charge cycles.

The RadMission 1 uses a 48V, 10.5 Ah battery, designed specifically to complement the style, design, and function of the RadMission.

Charge the battery by using the included 48V 2 Amp charger (or a charger purchased directly from Rad Power Bikes designed specifically for your bike's serial number). The charger is rated for both 110V and 220V AC power outlets, so you don't have to worry about adapters.

A full charge cycle is from completely empty to completely full. Discharging the battery halfway and recharging back to full is only half a charge cycle. You can discharge the battery 50% and charge it back up to 100% twice to equal one complete charge cycle. If you only discharge the battery halfway before recharging normally, your battery will last for twice as many trips!

Failure to follow proper charging and storage procedures may result in a non-functional battery, and replacement will not be covered under warranty. Always ensure battery is charged before use. Before each ride, inspect the battery to ensure there is no damage to battery and that it is securely locked to the frame. Charge and store bike and battery in a dry location, between 50 °F - 77 °F (10 °C - 25 °C). Failure to properly charge, store, or use your battery may void the warranty and may cause a hazardous situation.

Range and Battery Life

Range

The battery gives the bikes an expected range of between 25-45 miles on a single charge depending on the level of pedal assist, terrain, and rider size. Using the twist power assist consumes the most battery power so you can increase your range by sticking to a low level of pedal assist (0-2).

Battery Life

This depends on several factors, including how frequently an owner discharges and recharges the battery.

A battery with these specifications will average about 5 years of Rad riding!

Frequent riders: a rider who drains a full battery and recharges it back to full every day, seven days a week, will see about 2.5 years of life from their battery.

Casual riders: a casual rider's battery can last closer to 6-7 years.

Battery Replacement

Our high-quality batteries should provide years of dependable power, but when a spare or replacement battery is needed, it's easy to replace!

The battery can be easily removed with the key, and a spare or replacement battery can be installed in its place on the battery mounting tray on the bike.

We do not currently offer battery upgrades, but you may purchase an extra battery (great for extending your range on long trips!) or a replacement battery HERE.
